We have two Sunday services at St Nicholas Church, at 10:30am and 6:00pm.
Our morning service begins at 10:30am (and lasts for just over an hour). There are groups for children and teenagers on the first three, and fifth, Sundays of the month. The service on the fourth Sunday is an All age service when everyone stays in church together for the entire time. A crèche runs each week, where parents can leave their young children with DBS-cleared carers so that they themselves can take part in the service.
Our evening service runs from 6pm for about an hour and there are no children’s programmes run alongside this service. At this service we have fewer people and more room, and therefore you may well feel safer coming then if you want to exercise more caution due to the pandemic.
We are asking people to book for our services, you can do this by clicking on the links below.
We want to both celebrate the freedoms that we have with the removal of legal restrictions in summer, and care for those who are more vulnerable and/or cautions. For these reasons we will have a “traffic light” system corresponding to 3 seating zones in church, and representing 3 possible ways in which people would like to be treated.
I. Red. I want to maintain 2m distance and I will be grateful if you will wear a mask when speaking to me inside (basically operating within the social distancing regulations up until 19 July). Red zone seating – we will maintain 2m distance and masks.
II. Green. I am happy to return to pre-Covid behaviour. Green zone seating – pre-Covid, sitting next to each other as people wish.
III. Amber. I am in between. Please treat me with caution, but not Covid regulations. You may want to ask me what I’m comfortable with… Amber zone seating – a seat or two in between households/individuals.
In addition, we will be very grateful if everyone would bring a mask to church and wear it:
I. when singing - to help protect those who would prefer to be more cautious from the greater spread of aerosols that will come from singing.
II. when coming in, going out and moving around - to help protect those who would prefer to be more cautious in the greater proximity that will come as we move around in a more crowded building.
Please read our booking form carefully and use it to indicate which zone you and your group want to sit in. Please remember, as well, that we have an evening service at 6pm, we also require booking for our evening service.
