If you live in St Nicholas Parish, you may well have a right to be married at St Nicholas (click here to find out if you live in the parish). Most Church of England marriages require banns to be read out in your local parish church before the wedding can take place.
As well as that, others who have attended the church regularly, who are on our electoral roll, or who have a "qualifying connection"* with the church may have a right to marry in the church. If you would like to discuss the possibility of marrying at St Nicholas, please contact us on This email address is being protected from spambots. (*A "qualifying connection" means that you may well be eligible to be married at St Nicholas if you:
- were baptised or confirmed here
- have lived within the parish at any time for at least 6 months
- have habitually attended worship within the Benefice at any time for at least 6 months
or if one of your parents, at any point during your life:
- has lived in one of the parishes at any time for at least 6 months
- has habitually attended worship here for at least 6 months
or if one of your parents or grandparents was married here.)
